Trisha Hutchinson

Trisha is a Staithes resident and she uses locally found resources to handmake charcoal and pigments. Tricia uses driftwood from the beach to make charcoal for drawing and mark making; some of the driftwood being soaked in walnut oil to produce a deeper, darker tone. The raw pigments are found or dug out then ground down to make powdered colours which may be used for painting or dyeing - a fascinating and unusual ancient craft!
